In today’s “Take advantage!” section, the third in the series, I’d like to talk a little about CineClube Mossoró.
The film club aims to promote films and host discussions and reviews of certain movies that are not necessarily box-office hits. It is a good option for people looking for alternative events.
I learned about it from a story in a local newspaper that gave the date and location of a film screening open to the public, with free admission.
Unfortunately, I could not make it to that screening, and time passed without my knowing when the next one would be. Then, one weekend, I read another newspaper with a review written by the film club’s members. This time, though, they included a link to their website.
Wonderful! I have already added it to my favorites, and now I can find out directly when the next screening will take place and which movie will be shown. It is a great use of the web for promotion. For more tech-savvy users, there is also an RSS feed link for people who use this tool to access content from many different sites through a single interface.
I hope it will set an example for other organizations to do the same, making it easier to keep up with events, conferences, concerts, and so on.
People who do not live here in Mossoró also get to read reviews of the films shown and can learn from project models that could become successful, such as the September 11 special project, which plans to screen five films presenting different points of view about the 2001 attacks.
